Best Places to Eat in San Diego

by Matthew Furst

No matter what your taste buds desire, you can find the best of it in San Diego. Famous for its fish tacos and fresh catches, this seaside city can dish it out with the best of them. You’ll find the best places to eat in San Diego below. Check it out:

Upscale
George’s California Modern is a contemporary and fearless take on combining worldly influences on fresh, local ingredients. Mixed with an amazing wine list and fabulous cocktails, this dining experience is a gastronome’s dream come true. The prices are high, but so is the quality and taste.

Breakfast on the Beach
For breakfast in San Diego, there’s no better scenery than the ocean. And all the locals know there’s no better breakfast in town than at Kono’s Café in Pacific Beach. Kono’s serve’s All-American breakfasts, including a killer breakfast burrito. The place is small, but you’ll be able to find it by following the line coming out the door. Don’t skip out on this place.

Best Seafood
Truluck’s is the hands down winner in this category. The restaurant also owns 16 crab boats and because of this, they offer the freshest flavor around. Steaks are also on the menu, but it would be a shame to visit and not taste the sea.

Best View
There’s plenty of places that offer ocean views, but the restaurant Addison is one in itself. Perched overlooking the fairways of The Grand Del Mar resort, Addison offers a mix of perfect lighting, service, cuisine and décor. Gold etchings in the iron work and marble floorings are some of the highlights. In short, simply breathtaking.

Best Sushi
Chic in design and masterful in taste: this is Hive Sushi. As you indulge in fresh fish, a live DJ’s beats fill the air. The walls are bright orange and the atmosphere is sultry. Not to mention, the rolls are unique and you likely won’t find these tastes back home. Enjoy it while you’re here.

Best Fish Tacos
The most important thing to know about eating in San Diego is this: Blue Water Grill has the best fish tacos in the city. Although Blue Water has many worthy rivals, none of them serve the quantity or quality like this grill. Fresh fish can often be seen lying on slabs of ice, and this San Diegan food staple is no tastier anywhere else. Bon appétit.
