The Best Romantic Destinations
by Matthew Furst
You can’t buy love, but you can pay to stay where romance is likely to happen. Whether you’re traveling with your long-term spouse or new flame, these destinations are guaranteed to spice things up.
Bora Bora
Warm blue waters framed by lush green mountains and soft, white sand beaches. If Bora Bora doesn’t help to rekindle your relationship or help spark a new one, you have much larger problems than any destination can solve. Tahiti is romance.
Where to Stay: Le Meridien Bora Bora. This is Bora Bora’s only resort on its own island. With a five-minute boat ride from the main island, Le Meridien guarantees you’ll have the peace and privacy you desire.
Paris, France
This suggestion should come as no surprise. The City of Lights has also come to be known as The City of Love. There’s nothing like watching a sunset from the Left Bank while sipping a glass of wine with a loved one.
Where to Stay: Hotel du Jeu de Paume. Located in the heart of the city, this hotel overlooks the Seine River and is a perfect base for hand-holding strolls through the city and amazing dinners.
Venice, Italy
Winding canals. Gondolas. Narrow streets perfect for getting lost with someone. Ah, Venice! Known the world over as one of the most romantic destinations in the world, Venice does not disappoint. This city is pure beauty.
Where to Stay: Bauer IL Palazzo. This hotel is perfectly situated on the Grand Canal and is only a short walk from Venice’s main attractions.
Santorini, Greece
This is the quintessential Greek Island experience. Wine and fresh calamari by the sea. With its wild volcanic landscape, black sand beaches and relaxed way of life, you will not escape enchantment on Santorini.
Where to Stay: Katikies. This is a luxurious take on the island’s ancient cliff dwellings and presents a surreal fantasy in the village of Oia.
Taos, New Mexico
For those who seek to mix mountainside thrills with romance, there is no better place than Taos. This remote landscape perfectly captures the spirit and scenery of the American Southwest. Visitors are sure to get their fill of biking, hiking and skiing.
Where to Stay: Hacienda del Sol. Each room has its own kiva fireplace and handcrafted Southwestern furniture. But best of all, in the backyard of each room you will find a secluded outdoor hot tub where you can take in the mountain scenery and soak up the warmth of your companion. It gets no more romantic than this.
